Maria Meris graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a minor in philosophy from The University of Akron in 2022. She remained at UA to fulfill her lifelong dream of going to law school. Maria joined the Summit Legal Defenders in the fall of 2022 as an intern. She worked as an intern and law clerk all throughout law school, until she was licensed as an attorney in 2025.

Maria currently works in the municipal division defending adults charged with misdemeanor offenses.
