Zach MacMillan graduated from The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science in 2022. He then continued his education at Cleveland State University College of Law, graduating in 2025, with the mission of becoming a public defender.

While in law school, Zach worked as a Law Clerk for the Cuyahoga County Public Defenders Office starting the summer after his first year and never looked back, working in the Juvenile, Municipal, and Felony divisions. At Cleveland State University, Zach was also a member of the mock trial team as well as a board member for the National Lawyers Guild.

After being admitted to practice law in Ohio, Zach joined the Summit Legal Defenders Office where he continues to work in the Municipal Division fighting for the rights and liberty of adults in Summit County charged with misdemeanors.
